Description
Cervical cancer is a grave threat to women's health, ranking seventh most fatal cancer among women in Hong Kong. In 2017, 150 women died from the disease, accounting for 2.6% of all female cancer deaths. In recent years, the prevalence of cervical cancer among young women has been increasing, with a cervical cancer patient diagnosed at the age of 19. FAQ
How often should I have a gynaecological examination?
Regular gynaecological check-ups are available from the age of 20. For those who had sexual experience should undergo cervical screening (Pap smear and HPV) to detect abnormalities on cervical tissues. Some gynaecological diseases may have initial symptoms that are not obvious, such as cervical cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cyst or fibroid tumor, and STDs, regular check-ups can help prevent relevant diseases and manage the health of cervical cells.
How long does it take to make an appointment?
Please make your appointment at least 1 working day in advance. Call (852) 2156 5857 or leave your name and contact number via WhatsApp (852) 6324 5948. We will respond within a business day.
Is there anything in particular I should prepare for?
You need to be fasted for eight hours before your blood glucose test, i.e., no food intake in the morning before your examination. Only small portion of water intake is allowed. It is best for women to avoid the check-up during menstruation.
Does a Pap smear test hurt?
A Pap smear test is not painful if one is relaxed during the examination. While sometimes you may have a mild discomfort, deep and slow breathing can help to relieve the soreness. Pause our doctors or nurses if you are feeling really uncomfortable in the course of the test.
Can I ask for a female doctor?
Yes, our medical team includes female healthcare professionals.
