New Meningococcal B Vaccine
The incidence of meningococcal meningitis in overseas countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia is much higher than that in Hong Kong. There are about 10 to 20 confirmed cases of this fatal infectious disease in Hong Kong each year, with a mortality rate of about 10% to 20%. If you emigrate or study abroad, it is advised to consult your doctor and consider vaccination before you leave. For at-risk newborns and young children, meningococcal vaccination is recommended for the best protection.

15-valent Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV13)
肺炎球菌有超過100種血清型號，當中尤以血清3型惡菌帶來最大威脅！不論是幼童還是成人，由肺炎球菌感染引起的嚴重及往院個案，大部分都是血清3型肺炎球菌所至。
15價肺炎球菌疫苗已獲美國FDA及歐盟批准使用，在美國、英國、加拿大、澳洲等歐美國家廣泛使用，以預防15種血清型肺炎球菌（1、3、4、5、6A、6B、7F、9V、14、18C、19A、19F、22F、23F、33F）引致的肺炎及入侵性疾病，例如腦膜炎、敗血症等，適用於6週嬰幼兒或以上人士。
PCV15 is effective against both invasive pneumococcal disease and non-invasive pneumococcal pneumonia. While clinical studies indicated that 23vPPV is generally effective in preventing invasive pneumococcal disease, its efficacy against non-invasive pneumococcal pneumonia is suboptimal. Nevertheless, it is worth noting that 23vPPV covers more serotypes and theoretically offers extra protection.

「帶狀疱疹」俗稱「生蛇」，是由水痘病毒引起的疾病。患者身上會出現一種令人痛楚而呈帶狀的紅疹，並有水泡。凡感染過水痘的人都有機會生蛇，如病毒上眼或入耳，甚至有機會引致眼盲或耳聾。在水痘癒合後，病毒會潛藏於人體的神經裡，日後隨時會再度活躍，引致生蛇。據估計約有三分之一的人一生中可能罹患帶狀疱疹，常見於年長者或兒童中。帶狀疱疹疫苗 (蛇針疫苗) 能預防帶狀疱疹有效率超過90%，長達10年有效保護。
Herpes zoster, also known as shingles, is caused by the same virus that causes varicella (chickenpox). Herpes zoster is a disease pervaded by painful red spots that appears in band-like pattern with blisters. Anyone who has had chickenpox has a chance of getting the disease. Almost 1 out of 3 people will develop shingles in their lifetime and it is more common in older adults or children. In some cases, getting the virus in eyes and ears can lead to blindness or deafness.
